School is over and if you didn’t get an internship, you might be saying, “What do I do now?” or “It’s too late now to find an internship.”
IT’S NOT TOO LATE to find an internship. It’s never too late. This issue will be about how to find internships right before or during the summer.
1. STARTUPS
Startups always need people, and guess what? You can learn A LOT in a variety of fields because when you work in a startup you get to wear many hats. I did this in high school.
But where do you find startups that need interns?
YCombinator
Look at the list of YC startups and reach out!
Wellfound
Incubators
Techstars around the country
Just show up and ask startups to give you an internship. I literally did this
Other local startups wherever you are
2. ASK, ASK, and ASK
“Ask and You Shall Receive” BABY!!!!!!
Before we proceed, you gotta learn how to email well. A lot of the best opportunities often come from emailing people and knowing how to reach out to them. Check out this article, this one, or this tweet about emailing Mark Cuban, and this short template on getting an internship at Snapchat.
Let’s start now.
Three ways:
Find a company/person you like and send them an email (see above)
Email and find recruiters of big companies
People drop out and find other internships so they have openings!!
Where? LinkedIn, call them up, etc.
Ask a company to create an opening for you
When you ask and reach out you can create your own internships
Below, you will see an example of how someone emailed someone and ended up getting an internship. There was no application nor was the person looking for an intern. How and why did he get the internship? HE ASKED!!!
3. CREATE YOUR OWN INTERNSHIP
The purpose of life is to become the best version of yourself. How can you do that this summer?
Or a better question, if you had unlimited time and unlimited money, what would you work on? Answer it and GO DO THAT.
Another question is, “What’s the most important thing I can work on or think about right now?
If you have a vague idea of what you want to do, just go ahead and do it. You don’t need to wait. You don’t need experience. You don’t need to know everything (you never will). Just get STARTED and do what you want to do. Do what makes you feel alive!!!!!!!!
4. WHAT ELSE???
Research
Summer Classes (either official or unofficial by auditing or a free online class)
Start a project (Startup, Blog, YouTube Channel, podcast, etc).
Learn a skill (Coding, Public Speaking, Lemonade Stand, etc).
Fellowships
Have fun!

As always, remember, it's not about just finding an internship, it's about doing and finding what you love. An internship is one of the ways to test if you actually love doing the thing you think you might like.
See you later,
